Harpenden Town came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory against Cockfosters on Saturday as they kept their pursuit of a top four spot on track.

They went behind after starting the South Midlands League Premier Division clash slowly but were soon knocking on the Cockfosters door for an equaliser.

David Keenleyside was having a telling impression on proceedings and it was he who provided the corner from which Harps levelled.

Jack Cartwright met Keenleyside’s delivery to score and from their Town were in the ascendency.

James Ewington has enjoyed a prolific campaign so far this season and added to his tally to put Town ahead.

A fine run and cross from Harry Hunt allowed Keenleyside to cap an impressive display with a goal which gave Town breathing space.

They held onto their advantage until full-time for a victory which leaves them fifth in the table with two games in hand over fourth-place Wembley, who are a point ahead of them.

Town face Crawley Green away on Saturday.

It was a less productive weekend for London Colney as they went down to a 4-2 defeat against Hoddesdon Town.

A quick-fire start from Town saw Kardan Campbell and Leigh Rose notch inside 24 minutes to give them a 2-0 lead at half-time.

A further Hoddesdon strike and goals from Robert Armstrong and Emmanuel Hammond saw the sides head into injury time with the scores at 3-2.

However, Thomas Cowell struck in the fifth minute of added time to ensure Colney fell to a loss which leaves them 10th in the table.

At the time of going to press Colney were preparing to face Oxhey Jets on Tuesday evening.

They follow that clash with a home game against Edgware Town on Saturday.
