Crusaders march on in Premier Division Cup


Potters Bar Crusaders moved into the third round of the Premier Division Cup after beating Asia FC 4-2 at the weekend.

It was the first match in weeks after a long lay-off due to the big freeze but Crusaders showed no signs of rustiness as goals from Joe Chapman, Sam Raison and Tom Halla earned the win. Parmdeep Johal netted a brace for the visitors but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

London Colney A moved into round two at the expense of Fairlands Youth with a 3-0 win after goals from John Pegram, Tony Assopardi and Tom Henshall.

Despite goals from Joe Goude (2), Jake Mongston and Sam Crow, Baldock Town Letchworth 'A' went down 6-4 to Colney Athletic. Double strikes from Chad Morrisey and Tim Couch along with efforts from Adam Fowler and Nick Handley sealed the win.

In the Benevolent Cup first round, St Albans Wanderers moved into round two with a comprehensive 14-1 win over St Albans Youth Disability. Wanderers' goal scorers were David Ashley (4), Richard Francis (4), Shaun Gibson (3), Tim Attwood, Ben Knapper, Jamal Ayoub and Stephen Owen. Robert Drew scored a consolation goal for St Albans Youth Disability.

Global defeated Kings Sports Reserves 6-2 after goals from Chris Palmer (2), Chris Peacock (2), John Sheehan and Andy Walker. Chris Hamilton and Jon Pilkington replied for Kings Sports. Inn on the Green defeated Warriors XI 3-2 after extra time with a goal in the last minute of injury time. Inn's goals came from Rob Briggs (2) and Duncan O’Hare. Steve Eldridge and John Malone replied for Warriors.

In Division One, Wodson Park Seniors lost 4-1 to Probuild Reserves. Jamie Campany's brace and efforts from Gareth Scrivens and Chris Hinch completed the win with Joe Jackson on target for Wodson Park.

City Hearts defeated Bedwell Rangers 7-3 after a hat-trick from Gareth Brown and goals from Mick Jones, Dan Burley, Guy Whitbread and James Peacock. Reece Mumford (2) and Tanaka Chitate responded for Bedwell.

In the Herts Junior Cup, Probuild moved into the fourth round with a convincing 8-2 victory over St Ippolyts. David Pateman (2), Terry Pateman (2), Richard Hall, Carl Thompson and Michael Travis netted for the victors with Gary Wallace and Richard Green on target for Ippolyts.
