Crusaders thrash Letchworth in North Mid Herts League


Potters Bar Crusaders continued their good form with an 8-2 win over Baldock Town Letchworth A in the Premier Division on Saturday.

Nathan Barnwell struck a hat-trick for the Crusaders and there were braces for Ian Hargreaves and Jimmy Edwards.

A 35-yard thunderbolt from Tom Hallam sealed the win but there were consolation efforts for Baldock from Allan Grey and debutant Steven Mulroy.

Colney Athletic and Fairlands Youth were not able to field sides, so Welwyn Garden City Reserves and London Colney A were awarded the games.

In Division One, City Hearts, one of the most improved teams in the division, defeated St Ippolyts 5-0.

Four goals from James Campbell and a spectacular overhead bicycle kick from Ian Worthington completed the win.

Wodson Park Seniors returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Kings Sports Reserves, with goals from Charlie Cole, Brandon Cox and Michael Hills. Matt Aylott replied for Kings.

Inn on the Green lost 5-3 to Welwyn Garden City 'A' thanks to Emmanual Adyesaja's hat-trick and efforts from Philip Downton and debutant Tom Kiernan.

Rob Briggs (2) and Luke Nathan responded for defeated Inn.

St Albans Youth Disability managed to score a rare goal from Tom Christmas but still lost 14-1 to Warriors XI.

Scott Taylor earned the plaudits with four goals, with Chris Eist and Tom Avery netting braces. Gavin Lloyd, Martin Lloyd, Tom Jones, Steve Eldridge, Adam Flacks and Ian Woods rounded off the victory.

St Albans Wanderers beat Probuild Reserves 4-3 with goals from David Ashley, Stephen Owen, Jamal Ayoub and Shaun Gibson.

Luke Gumble (2) and Gareth Scrivens replied for Probuild.

There was another strong performance from Global as they beat Bedwell Rangers 11-1 with goals from John Sheehan (3), Chris Palmer (2), Chris Peacock, David Carrasco, Rob Day, Simon Lucas, Richard Barrett, and Jon Ward.

Jordan Thomas scored for Bedwell.

In the Herts Junior Cup, Probuild managed to play their postponed fourth round match against Oxhey and came away with a 3-1 win, with goals from Carl Thompson, Terry Pateman and Gary Pomfret.

They play their next round match this weekend away at Hinton Reserves.
