Saints City Trust to decide on vote date

Saints City Trust are expected to make a decision tonight on the date of the vote over whether to donate £6,000 to the football club.

The trust are holding a special general meeting this evening and it is likely a date, within the next month, will be selected for the 150 members to vote on the issue.

St Albans City's board want the trust to give the club the money to help with the day to day running costs at Clarence Park. The trust will decide whether to contribute the £6,000 and needs a 66 per cent majority to carry forward a resolution.

Acting trust chair Laura Graham said: "We have to give 14 days notice but we are hoping to hold it within the next month.

"We were invited to the board meeting on Monday night which was very positive. We're hoping we can work together and draw a line under the last few weeks.

"We had a better understanding getting together and it was more productive than sending open letters to each other. It was very encouraging."

The Saints extended their unbeaten run to three games after a well-earned 0-0 draw at promotion-chasers Thurrock on Saturday.

City boss Steve Castle has added to his squad by signing former Arsenal youngster Peggy Lokando. The 20-year-old midfielder has made one appearance for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Castle said: "Peggy's going to be in or around the squad. He's going to have to be patient for his opportunity because it's going to be quite difficult to sustain that amount of people, and keep them happy both in the team and financially.

"It's just part and parcel of what we're doing but it would be nice to get him involved."

The Saints travel to play-off contenders Staines Town on Saturday.
