St Albans City manager Steve Castle hopes to be able to strengthen his attack before this weekend's trip to league leaders Bromley.
The Saints have yet to win in the Blue Square South this season and will have it all to do when they travel to face a team which have won all of their matches.
Castle has brought in experienced French striker Jean-Michel Sigere from Margate but is on the lookout for more forwards after seeing his side score only six goals in seven games.
On the possibility of a new signing, Castle said: "I'd like to think so but I can't say anything at this time. There is nothing concrete but I'm hopeful we can get someone in and it's no secret that it would probably be up front."
The Saints boss admits their quality in the final third is non-existent after their winless start to the season dragged on.
St Albans have suffered a miserable start to the season after picking up five points from their first seven games. Their latest disappointment came in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Woking.
Castle admitted: "They were the better team in the first half and we evened it up [later on] but our inability to score goals and create chances and our quality is non-existent at the moment even from set plays.
"We're never going to score goals and so fair play to Woking. They came and got themselves up front and we never really threatened.
"From good players there has been a complete lack of quality. Whether it be a set play or a ball that's got to go into an area but every team that we seem to play against don't have that problem.
"They put it in the right area and it gets attacked and we don't, it's as simple as that. So we're really going to struggle for goals unless that gets addressed."
The Saints have resorted to long balls in recent weeks but Castle is adamant this is not part of the gameplan. He admits his midfield has suffered a dramatic loss of confidence and it is affecting their whole side.
"They're not being told just to smash things. We need to stretch games, that is the bottom line but when we do, we need to switch the play but for us to create any sort of chance we need to get hold of the second ball and I don't think we won any second balls.
"I don't think there were any passing options for the lads at the back other than bashing it. There was a complete lack of confidence from our centre midfield. Our centre midfield was poor and I don't often say that."
