St Albans Centurions head coach Obi Ijeoma has decided to step down from the role.

Ijeoma, who took over the position back in October, has recently switched jobs and commuting to Kent has made the additional travelling difficult to combine with the coaching.

Centurions director of rugby David Stevens told the club website: “Obi contacted me and after much soul searching has announced he has had to stand down from his head coach position at the club.

“I know he has recently changed job locations to Kent, and I believe that travelling from home to work to home, then to training or a meeting three days a week was very tough going.

“I got on very well with Obi, and found him to be an excellent coach and a very nice person. He will be missed at the club and we all wish him well with his future rugby league plans.”

The Cents are due to host London Skolars A in the league this weekend.
