Townsend bowler Danny Macro lost in the semi-finals of the national championships at Leamington Spa.
Macro recently won the county two wood singles championship which earned him a spot in the national event. He defeated bowlers from Whitehaven, Bolton, Bath and Poole before coming up against the champion of Hampshire in the last-four.
The scoring was very tight throughout and the match was locked at 10-10. Macro conceded two twos and then won the next end convincingly. The next two ends saw shots traded and with one end remaining, Macro had to trail the jack to force an extra end. He missed and was beaten 16-13.
Meanwhile David Waters won the men’s singles as Batchwood Hall held their club competition last weekend.
Liz Schlatter was the ladies singles winner while Teresa Wood won the mixed two wood event. John Harvey won the mixed fixed jack competition and the mixed short jack while Liz and Rick Schlatter were victors in the mixed pairs. Harvey and Gordon Turner won the Australian pairs.
