London Colney were beaten 2-1 at home by Hadley in the South Midlands Premier Division on Saturday.

The Blueboys nearly took the lead in the first few minutes when Jack Woods slipped the ball to Cain Davey whose firm low drive was blocked by the keeper’s legs at the near post.

Tom Smith then had a great strike from 30 yards saved by Charlie Mann while Dom Petrucci had a header go over sssssthe bar at the other end.

The visitors took the lead after 30 minutes when Shay Khosrowshahi went on a mazy run before firing low past Jack Smith.

The Blueboys nearly hit back when, following a throw-in from Woods, Davey played the ball into the path of Greg Shaw whose fierce strike was tipped over the crossbar by Mann.

At the start of the second period, Shaw saw a header tipped around the post by Mann and minutes later the same player had a close-range header, which went just wide of the target.

The hosts levelled just after the hour mark when Davey released Shaw and he calmly picked his spot, drilling the ball into the corner of the net.

Shaw went close to netting again minutes later when his firm strike was deflected just past the post following a nod down from Jimmy Hill.

The match was heading for a draw but Colney were stunned when Nick Chrysanthou hit a fierce strike into the top corner for Hadley’s winner.
