Harpenden suffered their first London Two NW defeat of the season after losing 20-11 at Chiswick on Saturday.
After going behind in the opening minutes to an unconverted try by Chiswick full-back Joe Grindle, Harps reduced the deficit as the result of a Aaron Wilde penalty in front of the posts.
Chiswick were then awarded a penalty in front of the posts which they converted.
Sustained pressure brought Harpenden close to the Chiswick line and scrum-half Adam Wilkinson managed to twist and turn his way over for a try but Wilde could not convert.
Chiswick fought back and seemed sure to score, but having got to the line, Wilde came across and put in a crunching tackle, knocking the ball carrier into touch before he could ground the ball as the score remained 8-8 at half-time.
Chiswick flanker Tom Adams broke through to score under the posts, with the conversion being a formality.
The hosts got a lineout and again pressed forward before second row Mike Fatsis fought his way over the Harpenden line for a try to give Chiswick a 12-point cushion.
Harpenden cut the deficit to nine points through another Wilde penalty, but Chiswick were able to see the match out without conceding any further scores.
