The Hertfordshire Cheetahs have agreed a new relationship with St Albans Rugby Club which will see them set up a new home.

All squads, aged from eight upwards, will train and play at their new home from January.

With more than 150 members and over 20 coaches, the Cheetahs are looking to push on both on and off the field.

An innovative schools & colleges program has started to roll out and the Cheetahs are also keen to start building a women's squad in 2016 as well as touch football and flag mixed gender squads at all ages.

Cheetahs chairman Al Tepper said: “We've worked so hard as a club to build a solid infrastructure; to create a platform for inclusion, growth, funding, sponsorship, events, community outreach and of course sporting and athletic excellence.

"St Albans Rugby Club have welcomed us in a way we've not experienced before and our combined resources allows us both to move forwards with our development plans. We're looking forward to growing alongside them and bringing greater health, fitness and community spirit to Hertfordshire."

St Albans Rugby Club's Chris Pike said: "We have a development plan to involve more and more elements of our community down at the club and the Cheetahs represent a massive step in the right direction for us.

"Giving us the ability to provide more sporting opportunities within in the local area, whilst at the same time giving a strong base and chance to grow for one of Hertfordshire's premier clubs [Cheetahs]. We are looking forward to working alongside the Cheetahs to help increase the level and volume of activity in St Albans and beyond."

British American Football Association chairman Charles Macnamara said: "We are delighted to hear of the relationship between the Cheetahs and St Albans Rugby Club. The Cheetahs are renowned for their commitment to development and offering a high standard of football.

"By seeking to combine this with the facilitates and local sports development pedigree offered by St Albans Rugby Club both parties will provide a strong platform for the further development of both American football and rugby in the area."
