London Colney maintained their recent impressive form in the South Midlands Premier Division after a 3-0 home win over London Tigers on Saturday.

The hosts made a fast start and created their first chance through Tom Smith but his low strike was blocked.

Stef Garaldes went close when he rounded the goalkeeper but was forced wide by a covering defender and fired over the crossbar.

The Tigers offered an occasional threat on the break and their first effort on goal came from Rafiq Bettamer but he blasted the shot over the target.

Martin Collins then set up Smith but the striker's shot was cleared off the line by Terry Whitman as the Blueboys were denied the opening goal.

London Tigers nearly took the lead when Stavros Panagiotou saw home goalkeeper Jack Smith well off his line and sent a long range lob over him which struck the crossbar.

Colney responded and Greg Shaw fired in a header which was well saved by Bernard Nasufaj.

The deserved breakthrough came after 32 minutes. Danny Fitzgerald sent in a free-kick which was cleared by a defender but Shaw picked up the loose ball and rifled a shot into the corner of the net.

It was almost 2-0 to the home side when Collins had an effort beaten away after a fine delivery from Geraldes.

The visitors had a couple of chances through Jabir Laraba in the second half but he was unable to find an equaliser.

Colney doubled their advantage just after the hour mark when Smith was tripped in the area by Nasufaj.

Shaw fired home the penalty to extend their advantage.

It got even worse for the Tigers when they were reduced to ten men after Ivan Petrov was dismissed for a bad challenge on James Lawrence.

The final goal came 12 minutes from time when Paul Armstrong released Geraldes and he beat a defender before hitting a low strike into the net to seal a convincing win.

The Blueboys host Stotfold tonight before entertaining Ampthill Town on Saturday.

London Colney Blues won 4-1 away to Harpenden Rovers with Conor McGrath scoring twice and efforts from Conor Bromwich and Eammon Rogers.
