St Albans slumped to a 94-run defeat to Leverstock Green in their Herts Division Two A clash on Saturday.

After winning the toss, Leverstock Green opted to bat first and it paid off as they amassed an excellent total of 324 for three from their 50 overs.

Opener Miles Barnard was in superb form as he scored 134 off 101 balls while Lewis Koch was also impressive contributing 80. Kris Jadeja chipped in with an unbeaten 70 as St Albans struggled with the ball in hand. Mark Telkman took two for 57 and Henry Tyler was the only other bowler to take a wicket during a tough spell.

St Albans were always going to be up against it in response and fell well short of the target as they were dismissed for 230.

Phil Caley did his best with an exceptional unbeaten 134 off 96 balls but there was not enough support to rescue the match. Max Capaldi was the next highest scorer on 20 as the Saints fell short of Leverstock Green's imposing total and fell to their third defeat of the campaign.

The side, who are bottom of the table, will look to get back on track when they meet unbeaten Radlett Seconds this weekend.

St Albans Seconds' impressive start to the Division Four B season continued with a 36-run over Ampthill Town Seconds.

The hosts were put into bat first and Nauman Nisar opened with 33. A partnership of 70 from Amit Rajani (34) and captain Uttam Vijender (49) was crucial in helping steer the side to a total of 187 for eight from their innings.

Newcomer Ryan O'Neill, who has just arrived from Australia, took an early wicket.

He finished with an encouraging two for 34 but it was Afroz Khan who caught the eye with figures of four for 22 as St Albans restricted their opponents to 151 for nine.

St Albans will look to take this momentum into their next game on Saturday when they take on Leverstock Green Seconds.

The Thirds were well beaten as they lost by nine wickets to Langleybury Thirds in Division Eight A.

The response was poor with the ball as Langleybury took control of the match, finding themselves under no pressure.

St Albans could only take one wicket through O'Toole and it was no surprise when their opponents reached the target after just 30.5 overs.
