Harpenden teenager Millie Dickinson has qualified for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship final at the Horse of the Year show in October.
The 16-year-old finished runner-up in the second round of the competition at Bicton Arena in Devon. The top two finishers were guaranteed places in the final.
Dickinson competed with her mother Jan’s nine-year-old chestnut gelding Ron Burgundy. This combination finished inside the top two after producing their third foot perfect round in 43.24 seconds.
From the initial starting field of forty, 12 combinations made it through to the final jump off and eight treble clears were eventually delivered. This resulted in the clock once again playing a crucial part in the allocation of the championship final qualification places.
Dickinson's time was almost a second and a half behind first place Ward Ottley and Kissemie Chatterbox (41.87).
