Harpenden Bowls Club's Lesley Tutt was beaten 21-8 by Jackie Bell in the mini-county finals of the officers singles competition.

Tutt fought back to defeat Natalie Chalcroft in the semi-finals before losing to her Hatfield opponent in the final.

Harpenden's Aussie pairs team of Pauline Taylor and Val Thomson beat Potters Bar to make it to the district final.

The triples team of Linda Newby, Viv Dale and Lyn Roberts were winning 18-3 in the rain and the game was conceded to them by Potters Bar.

In the county league finals Harpenden lost to Welwyn Garden City and had to play for the Plate where they won against Oakhill. The men also lost in the semi-final.

Harpenden defeated De Havilland 42-29 in their county league quarter-final.

In the County League Quarter-final Harpenden played De Havilland and won by 42 shots to 29 with each club winning on one rink. Harpenden completed their programme with a game against Welwyn & District and suffered their first defeat in this competition losing by 33 shots to 42.

Each club won on one rink and the two points gained meant that Harpenden won their section of the competition by one point. They will now play Rowley Lane who were second in the other section in the semi-final of the competition.
