Harpenden Town reached the next round of the FA Vase after a 4-2 away victory at Broadfields United on Saturday.
Man-of-the-match Jimmy Hartley grabbed a hat-trick scoring with his left and right feet and then a header to round off the victory along with a goal from Harry Hunt.
Manager Danny Plumb said:"It is great to start the season with a strong cup run, this is the sharpest we have been all season and Jimmy Hartley played superbly.
"It was especially pleasing as we had a makeshift back four with three of our regulars injured."
Harpenden started slowly though and after 20 minutes Broadfields converted a penalty to take the lead.
Town drew level just five minutes later when striker Hunt pounced on a great through ball from Hartley in midfield.
Ten minutes into the second half Hartley scored with his left foot from a Jimmy Warner cross.
Broadfields came back to 2-2 through Romaine Walker after good work from Liam Bird who Harpenden had trouble dealing with all game.
Harpenden then went ahead on 80 minutes when Hartley, who was fouled by the keeper, converted the penalty. The midfielder then got his head on a Warner cross to score the winner just before the final whistle.
Harpenden are away to Northampton Spencer in the next round of the FA Vase on October 3. It is the first time in 15 years that Harpenden have made it into the competition.
