Harpenden Bowls Club celebrated success at the St Albans and District Finals last weekend.

The men's finals took place on Saturday and a Harpenden team of Kevin Brazier, Tony Redford and Tom Muir beat Townsend to win the triples final 24-14.

Harpenden also won the pairs competition. Colin Driscoll and Noel Roberts beat a Potters Bar team 25-15. David Brooks put up a good fight against John Bell of Hatfield but lost 21-18.

The ladies finals were held at Clarence Park on Sunday. In the double rink competition, Harpenden won a close game against Hemel Hempstead, drawing on one rink and winning by seven shots on the other.

The teams were Linda Brooks, Linda Newby, Val Thomson, Pauline Taylor, Lucy Ratcliffe, Beryl Birch, Lesley Tutt and Janet Hubball.

Harpenden's triples team of Newby, Lyn Roberts and Tutt were also successful beating Hatfield 20-7.

Thomson and Taylor had a very close game in the Aussie pairs, winning one set each and then one extra end each. However they could not quite convert the third and final end as they lost to Hatfield.
