St Albans Hockey Club men’s first team continue to hold the top spot in the East of England Premier League after winning 4-0 against Ipswich at Oaklands on Saturday.

Matt Davey (2), Craig Smith and David Williams all scored for the Tangerines in a one-sided victory.

There were league and cup successes for the ladies teams. The seconds won 3-1 against Maidstone in Saturday’s league game after goals from Jo Martin, Sarah Embrey and Lottie Simpson.

St Albans also smashed Towcester 10-0 in the second round of the cup on Sunday. Goals came from Lexi Hamilton (3), Natasha Humphris (2), Fiona Nekeman (2), Maddy Davies, Em Thompson and Lucy Mann.

The ladies third team drew 1-1 with local rivals Harpenden at Oaklands with Charlotte Baron scoring for the hosts.

The Boadiceas were also celebrating after winning 4-1 against Bishop Stortford after Sian Island (2), Tamsin Warren and Lou Jackman all beat the keeper.

Josh Rose (2), Harrison Briggs (2) and Albie Cohen scored for the men’s third team in a 5-1 win against Teddington.

St Albans men’s sevenths drew 0-0 with Letchworth and the men’s eighths won 5-0 against Hertford after efforts from Nathan Murley, Matt Stevens, Ben Lavelle, Steve Fox and Ashley Murenha.
