St Albans Hockey Club men's first team won the East Premier indoor hockey league after a weekend of knockout matches at the University of East Anglia.

The team played well over the two days of competing and fought off stiff competition to make it to Sunday’s final which they won 5-3 against Ipswich. The league win means they have qualified for the national rounds in January.

In league action, the men's seconds were celebrating after winning 4-3 against Oxford University at Oaklands on Saturday.

Alex Stobart (2), Scott Apps and Ben Hemsi all scored for the home side. The win puts the Tangerines sixth in Division One of the London Hockey League.

The men’s fifth team drew 1-1 with West Herts thanks to a goal from Matt Ashby while the sixth team also secured a point in a 2-2 draw with Bishops Stortford.

The seventh team enjoyed an emphatic 7-0 victory against Rickmansworth and the Centurians won 5-4 against Hampstead and Westminster.
