Hemel Hempstead was bathed in bright sunshine at midday on Easter Monday but sitting water on the Town’s Vauxhall Road pitch caused the postponement of the eagerly anticipated National League South fixture between the Tudors and St Albans City.

Overnight storms added to water that was already on the pitch and following a morning inspection the match was called off.

No new date has yet been set for the game and St Albans are also still to learn when their Herts Charity Cup final tie with Bishop’s Stortford will take place.

St Albans are back in action this coming Saturday, 2nd April, when title challengers Maidstone United make their first visit to Clarence Park for 45 years. Maidstone defeated Hemel in Kent on Easter Saturday.

Kick-off is at 3pm.

Prior to then Jeff Stelling is set to call in at Clarence Park on Tuesday, 29th March, as part of his Men United March in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. That day will be day nine of his 10-day fundraising walk and it is anticipated that Jeff will be at the Park at around lunchtime.

Jeff will be joined on this leg of the walk by the St Albans City mascot Sammy The Saint A collection during St Albans City’s match with Eastbourne Borough on Saturday raised over £400 for the charity.
