Harpenden Town manager Danny Plumb says the club must guard against complacency after moving four points clear at the summit of the South Midlands Division One.

Harry Hunt’s hat-trick added to strikes from Charley Humberstone, Mike Sutton, Sam James and Kyle McLeish to secure a comprehensive 7-1 win over Arlesey Town Reserves on Saturday.

Harpenden were also able to welcome back a number of players and Plumb now wants his side to maintain their focus ahead of a testing run of games.

“It is good to get players back including Harry Hunt and Charley Humberstone. Then we had skipper Jack Cartwright, Charlie Gould and Mike Davies on the bench and I think they will be match fit next week,” he said.

“It was 5-0 at half-time but we started slowly in the second half and will need to guard against complacency.

“We are facing tougher games in the next few weeks so it is good that all these guys are returning to fitness.”

Town will, however, fancy their chances of maintaining their league lead on Saturday when they face an away match against bottom of the table Brimsdown.
