London Colney were made to battle hard for a narrow 1-0 win over Cockfosters on Saturday.

The two sides went into the match separated by just three points and the game was played out in a predictably competitive nature as Colney and Cockfosters looked to get the upper-hand.

Ultimately long-serving London Colney man Robert Armstrong netted the decisive goal as one goal proved enough to settle a cagey clash.

The victory sees Colney climb to eighth in the table ahead of an away day against Tring Athletic in their next game on Saturday.

Tring’s poor form, which sees them head into the clash 20th in the table, should give Colney greater confidence of taking a positive result from the game.

Harpenden Town were not in action over the weekend, but remain fourth in the table by virtue of results elsewhere.

They are some seven points off league leaders Berkhamsted having played a game fewer than the pace setters.

Town are preparing to play Wembley in the Dudley Latham Memorial Cup on Tuesday.

Harpenden follow that with a league meeting against Leighton Town on Saturday as they turn their attention back to South Midland Premier Division commitments.
