London Colney were made to battle hard for a 2-1 win over Stotfold FC as they weathered a late storm on Saturday.

The home side had the better of the first half and took the lead through Tobi Omotosho.

They would therefore, have been disappointed to go into the half-time break all square at 1-1 after Stotfold bagged a leveller.

They restored the lead in the second period as debutant Josh Muschet scored after some fine work from Joe Reynolds.

Stotfold came on strong late on and Colney were indebted to Jason Coughlan’s last-gasp tackle which ensured they finished the game ahead.

The result leaves Colney eighth in the table ahead of taking a break from league action on Saturday.

Their league commitments return on December 9 when they entertain a Berkhamsted side sitting pretty at the summit of the table.

Harpenden Town currently occupy third spot and are in pursuit of the league leaders.

They are five points shy of Berko having played a game fewer and kept their title ambitions on track with a hard-earned 1-0 win over Biggleswade United.

Harps toiled for much of the game and there was little surprise when they went in with the score tied at 0-0 at the interval.

However, a second half strike coupled with a resolute defensive display was enough to give Harpenden victory on the road.

Saturday sees them travel to Watford to take on Oxhey Jets as they look to keep their chase of the top two on track.

Harps head into that match two points behind second-place Welwyn Garden City, but have played a game more than their rivals.

They will have every confidence of getting the better of a Jets side with just four wins to their name this season.

Jets come into the game 15th in the table and were thrashed 5-1 by Tring Athletic last time out.
