City slickers earn vital win over London Colney


Welwyn Garden City Reserves held on for a 3-2 victory over London Colney A in their top-of-the-table Premier Division in their North and Mid Herts clash.

A brace from Vinny Brambel and an Alec Thomas effort ensured City extended their unbeaten league record.

Late goals from Yasin Boodhoo and Ricky Farmer could not prevent Colney from suffering a rare defeat.

Probuild returned to action in their first league match this year with a 2-1 win over Baldock Town Letchworth A. Richard Hall and an own goal handed them the points, while Sean Duigan replied for Letchworth.

Fairlands Youth were unable to raise a side and conceded the match to Colney Athletic. Potters Bar Crusaders maintained their good form with a 7-1 win over Asia.

Ian Hargreaves struck twice and efforts from Tom Hallam, Joe Chapman, Jimmy Edwards and Marc Mills sealed a one-sided victory. Parmdeep Johal replied for Asia.

In Division One, Welwyn Garden City A regained top spot from City Hearts as they ran out comfortable 7-0 winners.

Five goals from Oliver Rouse and one apiece from Tom Kiernan and Courtney Harris handed them the points.

Ceri Dix scored a hat-trick in Global's 10-0 win over St Albans Youth Disability. Chris Palmer and Chris Peacock both scored braces with John Sheehan, Simon Lucas and James Fisher also on target.

Kings Sports Reserves entertained St Albans Wanderers, who ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a goal from Oliver Gent.

St Ippolyts lost 4-1 to Warriors XI, whose scorers were Steve Eldridge (2) and Martin Lloyd (2). Neil Tapp grabbed St Ippolyts' consolation.

Two goals from Reece Mumford were not enough as Bedwell Rangers lost 3-2 to Probuild Reserves. Luke Hardy (2) and Daniel Corns fired Probuild to the win.
