REPORTS are today emerging that Sunderland boss Roy Keane has been identified as a possible replacement for under-fire Spurs boss Juande Ramos.

It is believed that another defeat against Bolton at the weekend will signal the end of Ramos' Spannish reign at White Hart Lane.

Ramos has been linked with jobs with struggling Spannish sides Osasuna and Atletico Madrid and it is understood that the Spurs board saw this as a perfect opportunity to part company as they would not have to pay him the £4 million compensation he will be due if he is sacked.

But nothing has materialised and chairman Daniel Levy is ready to make his move if Spurs slip to yet another defeat at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

One stumbling block could be Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn's refusal to let his manager - and friend - leave.

Keane would be given £40m to spend in January but would also demand that the club's director of football policy is binned. Former Spurs skipper Gary Mabbutt has also been identified as a possible coach under the proposed new regime.
