Lancashire opener Stephen Moore is out for the remainder of the season with a dislocated shoulder.

Moore sustained the injury during his side's defeat to Essex in the semi-final of the Friends Provident t20 on Tuesday and was ruled out of the ongoing championship match against Hampshire.

Now, having seen a specialist, the 29-year-old has been told he needs an operation and will play no further part this term - his first at Old Trafford since joining from Worcestershire.

Lancashire head coach Peter Moores said: "It is a big disappointment for Stephen and for the club as we approach the championship run-in.

"We wish him well in his recovery."
