Lilley Livered

Peter Lilley MP, former cabinet minister and representative of various parts of Hertfordshire depending on who is voting Tory at the time, has shown his true blue colours again.

He has been throwing cold water on the climate change bill, the hard fought effort that is the only serious attempt at the issue we have seen from Parliament.

But hold on, you cry, aren't the Tories supposed to be all green now? Vote Blue Go Green?

Er... no.

Like his party leader, when the going gets tough, this Tory reverts to type. It's fine to use billions of our money to bail out the greedy banks, but when it comes to the future of life on Earth? Not interested thanks.

Peter Lilley has passed his sell by date: it is time for a change. When a constituent has a problem with Herts CC and asks for help, he should investigate. We spent a year corresponding with him, asking him for help and got nowhere. We made an appointment to see him at his Wheathampstead surgery but he didn't show up, as he was still on holiday in France, and he sent his parliamentary assistant instead. We then asked our county councillor, Bernard Lloyd, for help who did not give us a fair hearing. The conservative led Herts CC puts even conservatives off voting conservative!
