By Robert Beiny
I reprint this article which has been published elsewhere in it's entirity.
Harpenden based hearing specialist, Robert Beiny, really listens to people.
In fact, his patients are so impressed with his expertise and dedication to their hearing healthcare they have helped to crown him the UK’s top Hearing Aid Audiologist.
Following a record number of nominations for the ‘UK Audiologist of the Year Award’ – which is supported by the world’s leading hearing aid battery manufacturer, Rayovac, and Audio Infos magazine for audiology professionals – Robert was nominated after patients were asked to highlight the hearing aid audiologist who they felt had gone the extra mile to provide them with outstanding service.
After a nine-month process, whittling down hundreds of nominations from all over the country from within both private practice, retail chains and the NHS Robert, who is the Director of Audiolology at The Hearing Healthcare Practice in Harpenden, emerged the clear winner.
The judging panel was hugely impressed by Robert’s dedication to his patient’s welfare – clearly evident from the nomination he received from Sue Reeves.
Sue voted for Robert on behalf of her father, Charles Peck, after he suffered serious hearing problems following a stroke which left him in hospital, deaf in one ear and with severe problems in the other.
Robert impressed the judges by making exceptional efforts to rapidly assess the correct aid. Importantly, he also chose a device that would also be easy for other people, particularly Charles’s carers and family, to help him with.
Robert Beiny said; “Being named Audiologist of the Year is a real honour and I am delighted. I’d like to thank Sue and everyone who nominated me and the other members of the Hearing Healthcare Practice team. Helping people to benefit from the latest advancements in hearing technology and improve their quality of life are huge rewards in themselves, but knowing you’re appreciated by your peers really means a lot too.”
Paula Brinson-Pyke, Marketing Manager for organisers, Rayovac, said; “This is a heart warming story and the judges were hugely impressed with the dedication and devotion shown by 2obert in meeting the patient’s needs. Sue and her family said they had never met anyone so caring and attentive and who was prepared to visit her father in hospital on several occasions. The fact that so many people, including Charles’s family voted for Robert was highly impressive.”
Apart from Robert’s main Award, the Hearing Healthcare Practice received an impressive further two nominations and a commendation for members of staff, Hearing Aid Audiologists, Jo Rae and Zoe Steward.
As winner of the UK Audiologist of the Year, Robert Beiny will now go forward to represent the UK in the European Finals, alongside winners from other countries.
The overall winner will be announced later this month at the European Union of Hearing Acousticians (EUHA) Congress in Nuremberg – the largest hearing event in Europe.
