The big hoo-ha about sensitisation issues last October following the whole Ross scam really got on my nerves. I’d first like to say it was wrong, and I cringed at the awkward feel of the whole Ross/Brand radio show. However, for my generation we personally couldn’t care less after the first hundred thousand complaints from Daily Mail readers about how “TV was better in our day” and so forth. Aside from the inexcusable Ross, Jeremy Clarkson came under fire for jokingly accusing all van drivers of killing prostitutes. This is Clarkson, it’s what makes him loveable to so many. Why criticise a funny man for being adventurous? It’s like criticising a perfectly good Chinese meal because “it’s too oriental” or “it’s not British enough.”

So this week was his big comeback and what a surprise it was to see no young women on the show (no women at all in fact), nor will there be next week bar a middle-aged actress who Ross can’t insult in some way. Yes there was the joke at his own expense saying “why would you put that out knowing it’d be broadcast”, it’s all very jocular and pleasant.

It’s unfortunate it was he who was involved in this scandal; I liked his whimsical ‘make-your-guests-uncomfortable’ form of interviewing. Why couldn’t it have been say, James Blunt or anyone from GMTV, the TV world would be a much better place without them on our screens. I don’t want the celebrities to have their heads inflated even more with questions like “is your album great, or fantastic?” Oh well, in ten years time or so I’ll be the one clinging to nostalgia, exclaiming the old line “it was better in my day!”
