Thank you for your question. I'm not sure whether you are married. If you are married, the mother of the child may attend the register office alone to register the birth and then enter your details as father.
From speaking to my local Registrar, I understand that if you are not married, the only way that she would have been able to register your details as father would be by providing a Statutory Declaration from you or a court Order declaring your parentage.
I advise that you make an appointment to attend before the Registrar at the office where the birth was registered and ask for details of the registration.
Specifically, how did the Registrar satisfy him/herself that your details could be entered as father of the child in your absence. If it is the case that a Statutory Declaration has been forged then perjury may have been committed which is criminal offence carrying penalties. Either way, the first step is to make an appointment to see the Registrar to get it investigated.
