Herts Air Ambulance is looking to the people of Hertfordshire to get on board to raise much needed funds during National Air Ambulance Week.

From Monday the fundraising team will be launching the “Go Red” appeal to help raise vital funds.

Schools, businesses, groups, clubs and individuals are invited to join in the fundraising by wearing red for one day during the week and donating £1 for doing so.

As an incentive for local businesses, groups and clubs to take part, if they raise more than £500 they could be visited by a member of the Herts Air Ambulance fundraising team in a Red London Bus, courtesy of Time Bus.

The Red London bus will be going on tour in Hertfordshire during National Air Ambulance Week to promote Go Red.

Ewen Pring from Time Bus said: “We thought this 'Exhibition Bus' would be ideal to attract attention to the Air Ambulance Go Red campaign, especially with the bright red colour matching the craft, so we have provided it without charge around Herts, our locality. We strongly believe this cause is worthy of maximum support from residents and business in the county; so please drop by."

Nikki Caborn of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust is coordinating the campaign and said: “We are very excited about launching our Go Red campaign next week and are thrilled that so many people have already signed up to support a great cause! Thank you to Time Bus for kindly donating the use of their red London Bus and helping get this campaign off the ground.

This is a fantastic opportunity to raise funds and to involve the whole community in charity work. Going red will play a huge part in helping us keep the Air Ambulance flying!
