Right at the beginning of his ministry, in the synagogue in Capernaum, Jesus set down his marker – one that would lead him on a journey not only to the cross but that also would split later Christians and their churches even to this present day – is it possible for Christians to be involved in politics?

Dates and Numbers

Numerologists are out in force this week. We’re sandwiched between two interesting dates, 1/11/11 and 11/11/11. I’ve no idea if this has any significance whatsoever. The rational mind dismisses such things a pure coincidence, rationalists being equally dismissive of any talk of God or the supernatural. But what is clear is that numbers have always played an important part in religion.
