Not to miss Guidebook!

I look after one section of the 194 mile-long Hertfordshire Way. We have just finished waymarking the whole footpath route in the clockwise direction – the anti-clockwise signing having been done when the Way first opened in 1998.

There is also a Guidebook giving distances and directions; historical facts; interesting things to see; and where refreshments can be taken.

Now we all know the propensity of some drivers (and even walkers) to claim they know their route, without the need to use a map or ask for directions – an over confidence that often fails. Equally, you could try and walk the Hertfordshire Way without the Guidebook, and in spite of the signing, still get lost! We can follow many ‘signs’ in life, in good faith, but end up a cropper.

The Bible, now available on i-phone, tablet, MP3, in conventional book form, and I suspect, even on apps, is the guide we Christians use to make our way forward in life. It gives a history of the early Believers (originally called the People of the Way); the guidelines we willingly follow; and advice about how we should lead our lives and witness to others. The author and His Son passionately want us all to succeed and enjoy happy and fulfilled lives.

In a world increasingly going off the rails, I suggest we could all benefit from using it as our life ‘routemap’ Have a read before you continue your journey.
