Waiting! Are you good at it? I’m not, although with so many trains being late at the station I ought to be better at it by now, and I’m sitting here trying to contact my power supplier with broadband so slow I could go and make a cup of tea between clicks of the mouse!

In fact, at this moment I’m waiting for inspiration as to what to write. Usually I wake up with the key idea, rush to the computer, and there it is done, only needing a little editing. But why my minor mental block? Maybe my mind has absorbed the general uncertainty of the political scene and can’t zoom in on one incident. What scenario will unfold In these uncharted waters? Nobody quite knows.

But as someone who believes in God I turn to his word, the Bible, for advice. Yes, I know it’s a library of 66 diverse books, but there are recurring themes and patience and wisdom are two of them, crucial attributes for both for me and the current scene.

Do people pray nowadays? Do we believe prayer works? God is always listening. I understand that in 1940 King George VI asked the whole nation to have a day of prayer. Today we are not fighting a world war, but those in charge do need an abundance of wisdom. Maybe every believer should take up the same challenge now even while waiting to see what happens with our nation.
