The low ground rent and maintenance charges in comparison to most other flats also keep our monthly outgoings to a minimum.

We've had bad experiences in flats with heavy footed neighbours above our heads so the bedrooms on the top level were perfect for us. We also rent our second bedroom to a friend for £400 a month, so plenty of parking outside the maisonette was really important; this also allows us to have friends and family over with no issues with parking.

When we were looking for our first home a private garden didn't feature on our list as we didn't think it was attainable for our budget, but it's proved an amazing space, especially in the summer, with BBQs and having friends and family over. It gets sun from around 1pm every day until sunset and we often sit outside to eat dinner. It's a really friendly and quiet neighbourhood, walking distance down the Alban Way to the Galleria and also great proximity to St Albans."
