Prepare to chuckle your way through the chillier months with a selection of top-name comics who are visiting the area.

The last few tickets are still up for grabs to see Irish stand-up Ed Byrne (October 8) and Live at the Apollo-star Lee Nelson (November 6) at the Alban Arena.

A stellar line-up of comedians is programmed for the Harpenden Public Halls, including Justin Moorhouse with his new Destiny Calling tour (September 10) and rapper-turned-comedian Doc Brown (September 12).

Visiting Harpenden before his St Albans slot is Lee Nelson (October 15), along with Grumpy Old Women-star Jenny Eclair who is touring her show How to be a Middle Aged Woman - Without Going Insane (October 16).

Also at the Public Halls is Andy Hamilton, who co-created BBC1's hit show Outnumbered with Guy Jenkin (November 15) and Ruby Wax with her fascinating show Sane New World, which shows audiences how to become the master, not the slave, of their own minds.

Meanwhile in Tring Stephen K Amos is visiting The Court Theatre with his Laughter Master show (November 12), along with raunchy comedy play Dirty Dusting (December 9) about a group of cleaning ladies who start up their own sex chat line.
