WHAT better way to be remind of the true meaning of Christmas than the sound of a superb choir within the surroundings of St Albans Cathedral?

This Saturday there are two concerts to enjoy by the celebrated St Albans Bach Choir, fresh from performing at the Royal Albert Hall at the invitation of composer John Rutter.

The choirs have also been chosen by Mr Rutter to sing at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon on December 16.

While the afternoon performance is particularly for young children, with favourite children's carols and lasting less than an hour, the evening programme includes well loved carols and seasonal choral classics, interspersed with Christmas readings and a fun festive musical quiz devised by former Cathedral Assistant Master of the Music Andrew Parnell, who makes a welcome return to play the organ.

Proceeds from the events will benefit The Collett School, Hemel Hempstead for children aged four–17 with special educational needs.

Along with Andrew Parnell on organ, cathedral organ scholar Nicholas Freestone plays the piano and Cathedral Master of the Music Andrew Lucas conducts.

Both concerts offer the chance to enjoy beautiful music in the spectacular setting of St Albans Cathedral while helping a good cause. What better way to start Christmas?
