The former vicar of a St Albans church has died after being hit by a train at Harpenden station.
Reverend David Brentnall, 59, was a vicar of St Peter's Church in St Peter's Street until 2009.
He was killed after being hit by the train travelling from Corby to London St Pancras on Monday, January 21.
The Bishop of St Albans, Reverend Alan Smith, paid tribute to Mr Brentnall.
He said: “I am very sad to hear of the sudden and tragic death of the Reverend David Brentnall.
“Although he had not been active as a priest in recent years, he is still remembered with affection by many people in St Albans and Harpenden, not least for his charitable work.”
The British Transport Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to Harpenden train station at approximatley 3.20pm on Monday.
