Residents and staff are set to don their sunhats at two care homes in Bricket Wood to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the hit musical ‘Summer Holiday’.

The bupa care homes will be hosting the Sir Cliff Richard classic as well as other fun filled holiday events throughout the week of August 5 to August 11 encouraging everyone to go along and join in a host of typical summer activities.

Siobhan Drane, Bupa Care Homes Partnerships Manager, said: “Summer Holiday is a classic film loved by so many of our residents so the idea of celebrating its 50 years has been very popular.

"Everybody needs a holiday from time to time so this has been the perfect excuse”.

Allington Court Nursing Home in Bricket Wood is also inviting people along on Tuesday, August 8 from 12.30pm.

As part of its spanish holiday themed event there will be traditional Spanish paella and sangria as well as musical entertainment and spanish dancing.

Home manager Linda Marks said: “Our residents are really looking forward to Summer Holiday week; although we won’t be jet-setting as such, we hope the themed activities will create a holiday vibe and help to bring back memories of previous trips they may have had.”

Short term breaks are available in all of Bupa’s care homes, providing additional support to carers who may be planning a holiday, recovering from an illness or simply fancy a break.

Tenterden House Nursing Home, also in Bricket Wood, is holding its event on Tuesday, August 6 from 10am. The event will have a seaside theme, with a live singer and a fish and chip supper.
