More than 1,000 people visited Redbourn's Christmas Market over the weekend, along with Saracens players who turned on the lights.
The one-day market, entirely staffed by volunteers, had 50 stallholders selling local goods such as handmade Christmas wreaths and home-made African cuisine.
Saracens rugby stars Petrus du Plessis and Mouritz Botha, both Redbourn residents with young families, turned on the Christmas lights.
Kirstine Cox, one of the market’s volunteer organisers, said: "We are so thankful to everyone who came to our market this year.
"We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of people from inside the village and across the county, and it just shows what amazing things can happen when a small group of volunteers who have a passion for their village get together.
"We are an amazingly friendly and community-driven village and this came through so strongly today and everyone’s spirits were high.
"We want Redbourn Christmas Market to become an annual feature in the Christmas calendar and to give everyone a bigger and better Christmas Market experience year on year."
