I’ve got three coming this week!  I’m thrilled ! Three people I hardly know who’ll each spend 3 hours with me creating the radio programme TRACKS OF YOUR LIFE. Sometimes I meet strangers at the door, and later we are almost on hugging terms!
I have been fascinated by insights into other people’s lives and each of us come across so many in a day. There’s that business man on the tube, the meals-on-wheels lady, the other mums at the school gate, and so on.
And we all have a different character shape.  I’ve been leading school form times this term, getting the pupils to cut out their “shape” from coloured paper, red for the leader, straight lines for the maths wizard, pastel for the gentle one, etc. Then these are pasted together to make a lovely piece of abstract art!
I can’t help thinking that God enjoyed diversity, as he made us all different. For instance, even babies can be placid or happy, grumpy or spirited. Yes, my one year old granddaughter is definitely spirited! God didn’t sort us into groups of clones , he meant us to get on with each other , enjoying the harmony of existence, not the melody only.
Together we are like a fascinating tapestry of all colours and textures.   Maybe if we recognised God’s hand in the creation of each one of us, and his plan for the whole of us, we’d enjoy the ups and downs of ordinary life even more.
