None of the household waste and recycling centres in south west Hertfordshire will close, but hours will be slashed.
Hertfordshire County Council agreed yesterday to dramatic reductions to the opening hours of 17 recycling sites in the county, including the site at St Albans and Harpenden.
The site at St Albans will now open from 10am until 6pm in the summer and from 8am until 4pm in the winter - and close on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Harpenden will have the same opening hours but will close on Thursdays and Fridays.
The changes will be introduced in January 2015.
It is anticipated that these changes to the service will result in savings of £6m over the next eight years. For more on this story click here.
