More than 90 members from St Albans Masorti Synagogue took part in a nationwide event.
Mitzvah Day is an annual nationwide event where Jewish people all over the UK and in some parts of Europe help people less fortunate than themselves.
This year, SAMS performed eighty good deeds, which included knitting hats and scarves for Centre 33 - a drop-in centre for the homeless, planting trees in Heartwood Forest, undertaking a litter-pick along Alban Way and helping to tidy the St Albans Fleetville cemetery.
Simon Samuels, co-chair of SAMS, said: "It was absolutely fantastic to see so many of our members - both young and old - enthusiastically embrace the day and help support people less fortunate than ourselves."
