A St Albans secondary school held a two-week readathon challenge to raise money for sick children.
Townsend Church of England students in years seven and eight wrote on their sponsor cards their chosen books to read for the challenge, then collected sponsors for their reading for once they had completed the challenge.
The current total raised so far by Townsend students is £924.70 with more sponsor money to be collected.
Year eight student Hannah Jackson said: "I found the readathon fun and was learning a lot through my reading. I read eight very different books and enjoyed Diary of A Wimpy Kid the most."
