A St Albans store previously given a zero food hygiene rating scored a three in its latest inspection last year.

The Medina Store in Hatfield Road was given the new rating after an assessment in May 2014, St Albans District Council confirmed.

Mike Lovelady, head of legal, democratic and regulatory services at the council, said: "The Madina Store in Hatfield Road was given a Food Standards Agency Food Hygiene Rating of three when it was inspected in May 2014.

"Previously, the store held a zero rating.

"Unfortunately, the Food Standards Agency’s website was not updated to include the new rating for the store.

"We believe that this is an isolated incident.

"We have apologised to the proprietor of the Madina Store and removed the zero rating online. We will be updating the website with the new rating shortly."
