It’s an in-between time! We heave a sigh that our Christmas is successfully over, but we’ve yet to take down the cards, and box up the Christmas tree or throw it on the dump.

But what an opportunity to turn over a new page! Have you ever said something and then wished to “unsay” it? Do you sometimes feel that you are always searching for satisfaction but it always eludes you, and floats away? Do you ever wish you had the ecstatic joy of a small child getting the present he’d always wanted? Do you wish that hurts and bad choices of the past could be totally obliterated so that you never remember them again?

Well in my programme FAITH ALIVE on Radio Verulam the other week I featured the baptismal service at the Vineyard Church where 25 people were baptised by immersion. One of them told me her story. Her children had been taken away into care; there was a recent family death; she’d lost her job, her house ,and she currently goes to a food bank .

However, in her desperation she turned to the church .Someone told her about Jesus, who had taken all her troubles on himself by dying on the cross. This Jesus could come into her life, and make all things new. She asked him in and oh you ought to have seen her joy ! She now has a new family.

A new page is always possible.
