The priciest car parks in St Albans have been revealed.

Christopher Place Car Park in Upper Dagnall Street has its own large car park with more than 180 undercover spaces, with four disabled spaces, that are all within easy access of the city centre and many of the main tourist attractions in St Albans, such as the cathedral and abbey.

Parking there costs £2 for one hour, £8 for six hours and £21 for 24 hours between Mondays and Saturdays, however on Sundays and bank holidays, the charge is £1 during 6am to 12am.

Leaving your car along Drovers Way to go shopping in the town centre will cost £1.20 for an hour, £5.10 for six hours or £10.20 for 24 hours. Overnight parking is free, as well as on bank holidays and to stay parked for a week will cost £30.70.

Russell Avenue is located directly next to Drovers Way and costs the same to park while paying a visit to the retail outlets in the area.

However, on busy days, Russell Avenue may be easier to find a spot as it has 537 spaces, compared to the car park in Drovers Way, which has 351.

The Maltings Shopping Centre, in Victoria Street, has 770 spaces, eight of which are disabled and is £1.40 for an hour, or £11 for the day, between 7am and 12am. On Sundays, it costs £1 to park all day.

For those seeking an afternoon of learning more about the history of the area, the Verulamium car park, in St Michaels Street, is situated next to the Roman Wall of St Albans, along with Verulamium Museum, which delves into everyday life of the museum and also a Roman theatre.

Spending a full day in this part of the town will only cost £3.60 or £1.50 for three hours.

Victoria Street Car Park is useful for picking up bargains at Morrisons or visiting Fleetville Junior School.

Between Monday to Friday, parking is £7.40 for 24 hours or £3.30 during the day, if you are in after 10am and out by 12am.

Parking in the evenings between 5pm and 12am costs £2.50 and Saturdays and Sundays for 24 hours is also £2.50.
