The teaching pool and confidence water area at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre will close for maintenance work next month.

The work, which will run from Saturday September 2 until Friday September 8, has been timed to take place after the summer holidays in a period of low-demand when school swimming sessions are not running at the site.

The main pool will remain open to the public for use while the work takes place.

Everyone Active time-tabled swim scheme sessions will also continue, running to a revised programme in the main pool, where both the floor and the temperature can be raised. The maintenance work means that some sessions for adults have however had to be cancelled.

Everyone Active manages Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre for St Albans City and District Council.

Cllr Annie Brewster, sports and culture portfolio holder at St Albans City and District Council, said:  “Arrangements have been made with our contractors for this maintenance work to take place during one of the quietest times of the year.

“Significant efforts have been made to minimise disruption and we apologise to anyone inconvenienced by the temporary closure of the learner pool and confidence water area.

“Swimmers will be able to continue to use the main pool at Westminster Lodge or the facilities at Harpenden Swimming Pool, where there is also a learner pool.”
