A female rock duo will perform at The Horns in St Albans next week.

Since the band’s critically acclaimed performance on the John Peel Stage at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival, Rews released the single Your Tears last month and released their debut album Pyro on November 10.

I spoke to them to find out more…

Where do you live?

We both live in London. Collette is originally from Corby in Northamptonshire and Shauna is originally from Magherafelt in Northern Ireland.

What music did you grow up listening to?

Collette: My dad listened to punk, rock & new romantic stuff & my mum loved 1980s synth pop & house so it was really varied & it inspired my musical tastes.

Shauna: My parents were both in a band together & they also wrote songs too! They played everything from classic rock & pop to ambient stuff. I particularly loved the heavy rock & pop stuff.

How did you meet?

Shauna: I met a friend of Collettes randomly when I first moved to London who thought we would get on well (we were both looking for people to jam with) - so she recommended we meet & jam... and through the powers of social media - we connected & met up for our first jam & the rest is history.

Describe your music

High energy alternative rock with pop sensibilities

Do you play instruments as well as sing?

Collette: I am the drummer in the band. I also play a little bit of guitar and piano as well as sing!

Shauna: I am the guitarist in the band. I also play piano and bass.

What inspires you?

Shauna: I am inspired by honesty and good stories or experiences - positive and negative. I also love travelling.

Collette: I am inspired by creativity in action - gigs, taking to people, learning about new possibilities.

What have you highlights been in the industry so far?

Playing the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury... as well as the release of our debut album and all of the amazing support we’ve gotten from media.

What are your hopes for the future?

To take over the world!
