A woman has been recognised for her voluntary work at the Young People of the Year awards (YOPEY).
Jodie Cox, 22, of Lemsford Court, Borehamwood, was a runner-up at the ceremony held at the Moor Park Mansion in Rickmansworth.
She won £100 for her work in the town, including working with the swimming club and scouts.
She said: “I have volunteered my time to help the local community for many years and I often help at local events.”
The awards “reveal, recognise and reward” young unsung heroes who may act as positive role models for other young people to copy.
YOPEY, founded by former journalist Tony Dearing, who was last year made an MBE, is a campaign to give young people a fairer image in the media and society as a whole.
One of its main aims is to improve relations between the generations, including reducing the elderly’s fear of teenagers.
