A quiz night raised more than £4,000 for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses.

More than 175 people attended St Luke’s Hospice's annual quiz at St Gregory’s School in Kenton on February 24.

The Scooby Gang team won the quiz trophy in the end.

The Kenton Road-based hospice cares for people with incurable illnesses in Harrow and Brent such as cancer, motor neurone disease and organ failure.

The hospice receives a third of its funding from NHS sources, and relies on the public for the £3.5 million it costs to run its services each year.

Quiz organiser Aneka Shah-Levy said: “We always love to see so many people from the local community get together and support us at our quiz night. Our thanks also goes to students and staff at St Gregory’s School as well as volunteers for helping set up and run the evening. We are thrilled with the amount raised from the event.”

The Kenton Road hospice provides 2,924 days of in-patient care each year, more than 1100 home visits to patients from the community palliative care team, day-care for around 40 patients each week, 685 bereavement counselling sessions, and 1,502 sessions of psychosocial support to families and carers.
